FAPS PROJECT: PROMOTING POSITIVE PARENTING AT ABAGENA IDP CAMP, MAKURDI, BENUE STATE.


At Abagena IDP Camp, BRMI brought together 50 caregivers for a practical session on positive parenting under the FAPs Project. The interactive discussion explored positive discipline, quality time, communication and problem-solving, family rules and routines, and child safety.

The session equipped caregivers with practical approaches to improve communication with children, provide appropriate guidance, and foster safer and more supportive family environments.

FAPS PROJECT: UNDERSTANDING ADOLESCENCE: BUILDING CONFIDENCE AMONG BOYS AT ABAGENA IDP CAMP, MAKURDI, BENUE STATE.


As part of the Family-Based Protection and Psychosocial Support (FAPS) Project, BRMI engaged adolescent boys at Abagena IDP Camp, Makurdi, Benue State, in an awareness session on Understanding Adolescence. The session created an open and supportive space for participants to explore the changes they experience during adolescence, strengthen self-awareness, and develop positive attitudes and healthy coping skills.

BRMI STAFF BUILD KNOWLEDGE ON GMOS, AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY


Brotherly Relief Mission Initiative (BRMI) conducted a staff capacity-building session on “Beyond the GMO Debate: Understanding Genetically Modified Crops, Food Security, Agricultural Livelihoods and the Nigerian Context.”

Facilitated by Imenger Joseph Ngutor, the session introduced staff to the science behind genetically modified crops, their potential benefits and risks, and their relevance to food security, farmer livelihoods and climate-resilient agriculture. The discussion also explored Nigeria’s biosafety framework and emphasized the importance of evidence-based information, responsible community engagement and informed decision-making in agricultural programming.

FAPS PROJECT: STRENGTHENING FAMILIES THROUGH POSITIVE PARENTING AT MEGA IDP CAMP, MAKURDI, BENUE STATE.


Under the FAPs Project, BRMI continued its weekly parenting session, reaching 103 women and caregivers with practical discussions on positive parenting, positive discipline, quality time, communication, family rules and routines, and keeping children safe.

The interactive session provided parents with practical strategies to strengthen parent-child relationships and promote safer, more supportive, and nurturing family environments.

FAPS PROJECT: UNDERSTANDING ADOLESCENCE, EMPOWERING BOYS AT MEGA IDP CAMP, MAKURDI BENUE STATE.


As part of the Family-Based Protection and Psychosocial Support (FAPS) Project, BRMI conducted an interactive awareness session on Understanding Adolescence with adolescent boys at Mega IDP Camp. The session equipped participants with knowledge about the physical, emotional, and social changes associated with adolescence, while encouraging healthy choices, self-awareness, and positive development.

STRENGTHENING FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY AT BRMI


BRMI held a staff capacity-building session on “Strengthening Financial Management, Accountability and Donor Compliance in NGOs” on 14 August 2026 at the BRMI premises. The session was facilitated by Hembaor Afa Favour.

The training strengthened staff knowledge of sound financial management, accountability mechanisms, proper documentation, and donor compliance, supporting more transparent and responsible management of organisational resources.

FAPS PROJECT: EMPOWERING ADOLESCENT GIRLS THROUGH LIFE SKILLS AT ABAGENA IDP CAMP IN MAKURDI, BENUE STATE.


As part of the Family-Based Protection and Psychosocial Support (FAPS) Project, BRMI conducted an Adolescent Awareness Life Skills session at Abagena IDP Camp, empowering adolescent girls with essential knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, build confidence, and navigate the challenges of adolescence.

Through interactive discussions and learning, the girls were encouraged to recognise their strengths, protect their wellbeing, and make positive choices for their future.

BRMI STRENGTHENS STAFF CAPACITY THROUGH TRAINING ON LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM


BRMI organized a staff capacity-building session facilitated by the Education Officer, Mrs. Odo Peace, on the topic “Learning Beyond the Classroom.” The session emphasized the importance of continuous learning through practical experiences, collaboration, and everyday opportunities, equipping staff with insights to enhance both their professional growth and service delivery.


FAPS PROJECT: STRENGTHENING CHILD PROTECTION AND ADOLESCENT WELL-BEING AT ABAGENA IDP CAMP IN MAKURDI, BENUE STATE.


Through the Family-Based Protection and Psychosocial Support (FAPs) Project, BRMI reached 116 children and adolescents at Abagena IDP Camp with recreational and life-skills activities that promoted psychosocial well-being, strengthened understanding of adolescence and puberty, and encouraged healthy, respectful relationships.

Under the Family-Based Protection and Psychosocial Support (FAPs) Project, BRMI empowered 78 adolescent girls at Mega IDP Camp with essential knowledge on adolescence, puberty, menstrual hygiene, and healthy decision-making, strengthening their confidence and resilience to navigate this critical stage of life.

BRMI commenced the Family-Based Protection and Psychosocial Support (FAPS) Project with an entry-level (baseline) assessment at Mega, Abagena and Ichwa IDP Camp, where the team engaged Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) officials to introduce the project and obtain authorization for implementation.
